Alice Ann Reekes born Tidenham c1852 (General)

by hjpreest, Wednesday, May 28, 2008, 10:33 (6032 days ago)

I'm researching my husband's Preest family tree and having difficulty tracing some records.
I'm trying to find a baptism for Alice Ann Reekes born approx 1852. She married John Preest 19.09.1870 at Tidenham.
I've found census entries for 1881 and 1891 when John and Alice Preest and their family were living in Bream but can't find anything for 1901.
I would be grateful for any information.

Darn it! I looked two years either side of 1852, but didn't think about using Soundex! That's probably why I couldn't find it on FreeBMD either.

Thank you for the baptism and census information. I'd tried using soundex but it hadn't brought the entry up. I hadn't thought that the Forest of Dean would come under the "Wales" census.

Thank you very much for the information. I hadn't realised that John Preest had died relatively young. I was a bit confused by the fact that it was the 1901 "Wales" census, I'd been looking on the England one.

I think Slowhands might bear me out that the 1901 census for West Dean is on the census for Wales and East Dean is on the census for England

1901 census - west dean

yes the enumeration districts 8 - 21 of West Dean , have been "bound" to "monmouthshire" by the Census administration and Ancestry - note they are still part of Gloucestershire county.

Newland, districts 4 - 7 are in the Gloucestershire bundle :-)
