"Leesen carefully; I will only say zis once!"

I think Alfred is one of my lot. This is a bit worrying because it means I am connected to Jean Herbert!

The marriage:

Jean told me that an elderly Harriet Clarke c 1788 was living with the couple on one census (don't ask me which one). I think Harriet was a sister of Ann Clarke c 1783, who was my ggg grandmother. Ann married George Morse c 1810.

Both families were from the Awre/Blakeney area. So can someone please work out how Alfie is connected to me? I can't find a baptism, but that's probably because the family were non conformists. Actually, that's probably where I get it from!

Thank you
Chris

Alfred MORSE c 1845 s/o William and Jemima (?)

by ChrisW @, Saturday, May 31, 2008, 12:55 (6029 days ago) @ slowhands

Oh Lordy what have you done?!

That would explain why I haven't been able to find any children for William & Johanna. William was the son of George c1773 and therefore Alfred is indeed mine. Who was this Thomas Herbert? They get in everywhere!

Thanks
Chris

No I know it wasn't you! You've also solved the mystery of the George 1843 that I've had floating about. Just found this one as well now. Looks like more Lowe involvement!

Oh no! Not another one!

I was quite happy with my Forest/Shropshire/Wales/London & Kent heritage thankyou. Still I suppose I shouldn't be churlish after such a warm welcome to the family!

Thank you again Slowhands for finding the previous link ie: Edwin Pollard 1878
It is unusual in the fact that the migration is from Yorkshire to FOD, usually the other way round. Featherstone is, or was a large mining community before the pit closures. So many Foresters arrived in the area they outnumbered the natives. Regards Jean Herbert (the Northerner)

looks like his father Edwin, a miner, when to Yorkshire , I'm guessing he died there ( or stayed a while) , and wife and children returned to the Forest ( Elizabeth is showing as Married in 1881 ...
