Hi

Have you not thought about compiling a Forest of Dean families tree.
Combining the research data of all your users could produce an extremely useful data base.

Forest of Dean Family Tree

Nice idea ianfhoyle but not practical. As an example, I had thought my own efforts at creating trees for various branches of the family were correct, but after comparing my information with other researchers I am prepared to admit that there were some outstanding errors. It would need an administrator working 24 hours a day to sort it all out, not to mention arbitrating between researchers who are convinced that their version is the correct one. I am willing to exchange information with anyone who has the same names in their tree as in mine but would be reluctant to post it on this site as I would not wish to mislead anyone should I have got it wrong. It is so frustrating to go down the wrong branch, and then at some point find you have made a mistake. Regards Jean Herbert

Hi Jean,

Yes, I think you are right. It just seems such a waist of so many peoples effort to rediscover the same family info over and over.
I have spent a fair bit of time editing my tree when mistakes are pointed out by other more diligent tree surgeons.
