Dear Sir,
I beg to acknowledge your letter of 18th.

The Selina THORNEY mentioned therein must be a member of another branch of our family.

My grandfather, grandmother, mother and second Brother are all burie in your Churchyard.

I am the eldest son of George and Sophia THORNEY born at Sharman in your parish in the year 1854 or 5. I believe the first is correct but am not sure.

The property then owned by my Father is now owned by Eyre COLLINS of Whittle, in your parish.

It is 50 years since I was at my birthplace. I have lost all touch and nearly all remembrance of the locality.

I may add that Sharman is about 1/2 way between Coulton and Owlhill. I cannot think of anything else that would be likely to help.

I am
Rev Sir
Yours Ob[edient]ly
C THORNEY

Born 16 June 1854-5
Charles THORNEY
--------------------------------------------------------

According to the Walford baptisms Charles THORNEY was baptised 23 Sep 1855 son of George and Sophia THORNEY, Farmer of Sharmans Lane, Walford.

NOTE:-
Whittle = Wythall, owned by the COLLINS family.
Coulton = Coughton
Owlhill = Howle Hill
