Dont know if you answered your own question on Richard Evans' parents but I believe it was Richard Evans(1759) and Mary Bird(1754) Married 2 May 1778 at Tidenham.

I have been researching this particular family and have discovered that most of their children appear in the Parish Register for Baptism in Bream AND Newland.
Does anyone know why this might be??

Bream is/was a chapelry in the parish of Newland; so my understanding is the Baptism was recorded in Bream and then maybe some one has updated the records in Newland :-)
