If you are interested in mining accidents a very useful free website is produced by the Coalmining History Resource Centre.

http://www.cmhrc.co.uk

This covers the whole of the UK but enables you to search by a person's name, colliery or area. The details of the accident are given in full for all events prior to 1950. The site has 164,000 records of coalmining accidents and deaths. Click on the 'Accidents/Disasters' tab at the top of the home page.

A selection of full text 'UK mining disaster' reports are also included on the site and the 1842 Royal Commission report for the Forest can be found grouped with the reports for Wales.

http://www.cmhrc.co.uk/cms/document/1842_Forest_of_Dean.pdf

Another useful feature are the location maps for mines arranged by division.

I hope this information is useful to members.
