Emma Curse JONES baptised 1832 Tidenham (General)

by Angela, Friday, August 01, 2008, 07:39 (5968 days ago)

There is a baptism in the Tidenham parish records in March 1832 for an Emma Curse Jones. Her mother is Mary Anne Jones who is single.

Emma pops up again on the 1851 census in Leigh, Lancashire though without the Curse in her name or even a 'C'. I cannot find her on the 1841 census.

Has anyone come across this name? Or does anyone know anything of Mary Anne Jones who was in Tidenham at that time.

Many thanks

Angela

Hi Angela

There are a few Curse's on FreeBMD, mainly from Shepton Mallet, Zummerzet.

Many thanks Chris - I shall have a good look at them. I think the only reason for adding Curse into a name is that it was the fathers surname.

Cheers Angela

Dear Slowhands - yes, very challenging. I think Emmas mother must have been born at least before 1816. I'll keep searching.
