JACKSONS from Ruspidge and Cinderford areas (General)
by Ian Jackson, Tuesday, August 05, 2008, 20:50 (5964 days ago)
Are there any "jacksons" from Ruspidge or the Cinderford area currently putting together a family tree?
I understand that there is a butcher shop in Cinderford called Jacksons, perhaps they are a long lost relative.
Any replies will be appreciated.

Edith's parents were William Wright b1848 Caynham, Shropshire & Eliza Morgan b1848 Whitecroft. Edith was born in Ruspidge 1883, and the family eventually joined the Forest of Dean Bible Christian Circuit. Most of the Jackson records are at Cinderford St John's. I have the Wright's back to 1680 Caynham.

Chris

Hi Chris
Yes, I think so. I have a Henry b 1883 who had 7 siblings (3 sisters and 4 brothers). His parents were John b 1844 (a brother of Daniel and William).
William married harriet Jones (they are my great great grandparents).
One of williams sons (Tom) came to NZ about 1876 and worked in the coal mines on the West Coast of the South Island (a small town called Brunner).
Any more information you can give me would be tremendous and likewise if tyou want some in return just let me know.
best regards
Ian Jackson

Hi Chris,
You say that most of the Jackson records are at Cinderford St Johns.
Are they available online, or do I need to contact them some other way?
I've come across a fact or two; it seems as if two of the relations served time in the Gloucester gaol.
Can we find out what they were "in for"?
Hope I'm not asking too much of you.
regards
Ian

Hi Ian
The records I saw are online on this site. Go to 'Parish Records' on the top of this page to view. There is a Jackson mentioned on The Rogues Gallery (Resources & Links on home page) but I think you would need to buy the CD.
Otherwise try Gloucestershire Archives Genealogical Database:
http://www.gloucestershire.gov.uk/archives
Does anyone else have any suggestions please?
My tree is on Genes Reunited if you are a member?
Regards
Chris

I have Daniel Jackson (b 1863) who married Mary Ann Miles in 1880, and their children Arthur, Florence, Sarah Ann, Margaret, Daniel, William and Hannah Maria. All born Ruspidge. Would this be of interest?

Hi Shirley,
Thank you, and yes thats the family.
Daniels father was also Daniel b 1839 who married Sarah?
The older Daniel had two brothers and a sister (John: Diana:William)
William is my direct ancestor; he married Harriet Jones and they had 10 children. One of the sons (Tom) married Rosannah Apperley and moved to NZ in about 1876. They had 10 children also, one of whom was my grandfather (Reginald).
He married Christina Adams and had 4 boys (two are still alive at 92 and 90yo)
My father Roy passed away in 1996 ( alot of the family became brass bandsmen).
If you need any further information as to how the family progressed please let me know; I have the tree going back to an earlier Daniel b 1806 d 1862 who married Elizabeth Hawker. I understand that the Daniel who married Mary Ann Miles was a twin (Margaret)and had 6 other brothers and sisters.
Any more information you can give me would be great, when I'm next in the UK (hopefully next July) I will be making a trip to Cinderford and if possible looking up old rellies.
Thanks again
Ian Jackson
