Broadstock inheritence going to a Chadd c 1800 (General)
Evening posters,
In researching my Chadd line Thomas b 1767 in Newent(Thanks be to this site) married Mary Broadstock b 1770 in Corse. A story is coming to light that one of the Broadstocks died and left a house Albion Cottage in Hanley Castle Worcs.,and £1000 in goods and money to Thomas. As a woman Mary would not be able to own property at this time so that may make sense. What troubles me is that the broadstocks appear to be a big family so why did this money come down this route? I feel that the Broadstocks were a family of 'status' so could well believe that they had money. This could be totally untrue or skued half truths. Certainly Thomas had a son in 1797 who was nade bankrupt in 1846 so he must have had a few bob. If there is anyone with advice , suggestions or even absolute knowledge on this matter I should be most grateful.
BTW it is raining very hard in Essex at the moment
