All

I recently spent a very pleasant afternoon in Cinderford library.

The afternoon was used to review microfiche of the Forest of Dean Mercury for 1934, the purpose being to find a report of my Grandfathers funeral (William James Jenkins). My grandfather died on 14/02/1934. I am please to say I found the report.

Since the visit to Cinderford I have tried to obtain a copy of my Grandfathers death certificate but can find no record of him other than his christening in 1899 SO James and Mary Ann, Clearwell.

I would like to obtain his BMD certificates, can somebody please help me find the required references I have check both Free BMD and Ancestry without any success.

The details I have are:-

1 Born 1898/99 so James and Mary Ann baptised 02/02/1899 at Clearwell ref 7610 entry 248 (He was baptised James William Jenkins)

2. Died 14/02/1934 buried Clearwell cemetry as William James. Over 400 people attended my Grandfathers funeral the coffin was drapped in the Union Jack and he was carried from the lonely farm at Fetter Hill to Clearwell for the burial.
He was a member of the Buffs and the Coleford branch of the British Legion

3. My grandfather married Emily Alice Watkins, possibly in Monmouthshire, between 1920 and 1925 My Grandmother was from Buckholt

Any help to find the reference so that I can obtain his BMD certificates would be appreciated.

Regards

Tony Jenkins
