I was reminded of the extended correspondence in 2006 on this subject, when I was reading the latest edition of The National Trust Magazine today. I will elaborate on this later.

Having just reread the numerous emails on the subject of MR CINDEREY, we never resolved the issue. We were looking for the someone who supplied the stone for the building of Drybrook Forest Church.

The occupation of sawyer was a common job of work in the Forest in those days. The Shorter Oxford Dictionary states that a sawyer is a workman whose business it is, to saw timber, especially in a saw-pit.

Now back to my reading material today, in which there are some examples of the stone masons language. The word "sawyer" is a man who reduces blocks of stone of either two or four tonnes to workable sizes.

So may be one of our sawyers could have been working with stone. Only food for thought!

Finally has anyone out there found any more information on our subject?
