Hi Paul
Would you know if the Belinda Harris shown in the 1851 Census, is the Belinda (sometimes shown Melinda) who married John Brain 13 Aug 1854 Parkend ?

Thanks Paul,
I had James Brain on all census from 1841 to 1901 except 1861 & and 1891. James Brain is related to me and of course Belinda by marriage. The presence of the "Neighbours" in 1891 seems to confirm I have the correct Harris family.
Interersting that in 1891 Flower is shown as a daughter !! HE married Julia Elizabeth Barnard and they had a son Maurice Thomas born 29 March 1898 Abenhall, baptised 29 May 1898 Mitcheldean.
1901 Census East Dean next door to son Amos, next door again son Charles.

Hi
This is very interesting as further down the line in 1951 my dad clifford Harris b1926, son of Francis Reginald, son of Elam, son of George, son of Thomas married my mum Florence White and her mum was Mary Ann (nee BRAIN). Seems both families moved North East Brain's to Durham and Harris's to Middlesbrough. Wonder if they are from the same family lines.....Bit of a coincidence dont you think?
Will keep digging
Thanks again

Hi Yvonne
I haven't got any of the Harris's you mention in my tree, but although my main interest is the Marfell family, I do follow parents and siblings of spouses. In my tree I have 622 Brain's including 11 Mary Brain's and 6 Mary Ann/Anne Brain's. Who were your Mary Ann Brain's parents and when was she born ?

Mary Ann Brain 1894-1970 B Brandon Durham - my nan
Thomas Brain b1860 Dudley Worcestershire- my g grandfather
William Brain b1828 Forest of Dene
I think Williams father was :
Christopher Brain b1798 Little Dean, died aged 28 Article in inquest section of this site), he married an Elizabeth Lilly who remarried a year after his death a Timothy ye you guessed Harris!
Seems Brains and Harris' matches were quite popular lol

Hi Chillyvon,
I think your Eliza Smallman is the sister of my 2x Great Grandfather John Smallman born 1839 Drybrook, Glos. His parents were William Smallman and Elizabeth. (For some reason she was entered as Charlotte in the 1851 census, but was Elizabeth in all the others). The Smallman's are a huge family and I have an enormous tree on them. So if you are lacking in Smallman info I may be able to help!! I don't have any details on your Eliza and would love to add them to the tree.
Look forward to hearing from you.
