Springfield, Hope Mansell (General)
Yes, it was a farm. It is just to the west of the crossroads at the top of the Hawthorns in Drybrook.
Just along the road there is a turn to Hope Mansell. The building at the junction is Hill Farm. The next is now called Hillcroft. It used to be Springfield. I obtained a copy of a map from Cinderford Library which shows it as Springfield.
A John Marfell, farmer, was living there in 1871. He was the son of Cornelius Marfell. Cornelius Marfell is a direct ancestor of mine.
May I ask about your interest in Springfield?
Do get in touch again.
