I am a bit confused..How does Frowen appear ? How would he have a different surname to his dad? It does appear further down our tree.Grandmother was called Carrie Frowen Pugh c1879 until she married Joseph Clark..I appreciate the time you spent looking. Many thanks Mary

I guess we have to think "step father" or " born out of wedlock" for example

FROWEN / PUGH TERRETT ( transcription / name confusion)

I think we read "just co-habitating" or just living together or maybe not living together!! It seems that Esther Frowen had children with John Pugh and the children were all Frowen. I also think one of these Frowen children was born after Mr Pugh had died. Anyway, son John Frowen married Mary Terrett and had some children using the name Pugh and some using Frowen. Their son George then produced Frowen-Pugh offspring. Clear as mud?? I thought so!! It seems that the Frowen was dropped in later generations to become just plain Pugh!!! Aahh!! Family research is sooo interesting and what skeletons fall out of the closet!
