I'm looking for my Grandad (and his side of the family). Unfornately looking for a William Powell in the FoD is a needle in a haystack dilema. I'm stuck and I'm not sure where to go from here.

Thanks slowhands. I'm not sure how to go about finding where he was born (Mum doesn't know). Would it be on her records anywhere (say birth certificiate) do you think?

I'd start by ordering the Birth cert for the William P registered in Jan 1916 - if his birth as Novem 1915 then you have hit lucky, if not its back to the drawing board I'm afraid - until someone else who has already done this work shares it with you :-)
