George Smith 1820 Christchurch. (General)

by Teresa @, Monday, October 13, 2008, 04:32 (5896 days ago)

I am searching for information on the above.

I Have found him and his wife in the census records. I can't seem to find a marriage for them though. Her name was Jane. According to census returns she was from Whitminster and born in 1826.

Also any information on his mother and father would be very helpful. All I know Is their names (George Smith and Sarah Jones - great !!!)

Many thanks

Hi Teresa

Possible for George & Jane's marriage on FreeBMD. I believe Whitminster used to be called Wheatenhurst?

BOULTON Wheatenhurst

Wheatenhurst is still there :-) < well it was yesterday afternoon for sure >

The name 'Wheatenhurst' was officially changed to Whitminster in 1945, but it is still used by the houses near the Canals, whilst Whitminster is the larger village on the A38.

Its the name of the registration district that would have included Whitminster and surrounding villages before reaching Stroud, Dursley or Gloucester districts...

and an example BOULTON family in 1841

1841 nr Packthorn farm
Edward Boutton abt 1791 Wheatenhurst, Gloucestershire Ag Lab
Mary Boutton abt 1796 Gloucestershire, England Wheatenhurst, Gloucestershire
Eliza Boutton abt 1829 Gloucestershire, England Wheatenhurst, Gloucestershire
Ester Boutton abt 1837 Gloucestershire, England Wheatenhurst, Gloucestershire
