I have a prayer book with the name: Mrs J SYMONDS Morse Farm Nr. Ruardean, Gloucestershire (no date) Other names in pencil are THOS. HARRIS April 17th could be 1820 or 1840 something and underneath THOS Son of June 5th 1817

also a bible: ALICE SYMONDS same address date 10th April 1887.

The prayer book is falling apart but the bible is intact. I just wondered if these names ring a bell with anyone. If these are your relatives you can have the books if you would like them.

Mrs J(John) Symmonds was my wife`s great great grandmother (Eliza Symmonds), she was born Eliza Harris daughter of Thomas Harris, so this all fits together. She had a daughter Alice which also fits. I would certainly be interested in having the prayer book if that`s possible.

Alice Symonds was my grandmother who married William George Teague, her mother was Eliza Symonds and father John.Alice appears to have been a bit forgetful as to her second name as her birth certificate names her as Alice Augusta but her marriage cert has her as Alice Abiah. Were they really married? My father George William John was their first son but he was preceded by Gladys Mary who died w
hen she was 10.There were six more children after these two.

Hello to you both

Well, I didn't think I'd have a reply quite so quickly! You are both obviously related albeit one by marriage. Graham, you can have the prayer book. It isn't probably as bad as I described "falling apart", although the back cover is off and the front cover is loose, as well as a couple of the first pages, the rest is in one piece so perhaps I did describe it accurately. Looking through it again, I see that Mrs J certainly wanted it known that she was the owner of the book because she has written her name and address on the inside cover along with three more and two names on the inside back cover. Maybe this is because prayer books were "valuable" so she wanted to make sure everyone knew it belonged to her!

Maurice, you are more interested in Alice. You can have the bible if you would like it. Actually, I found another little prayer book with Alice's name and address in, unfortunately the hard covers are missing but the front and back pages carry Alice's name and address, she called herself A.A. Symonds on the back.

As we are not supposed to put email addresses I can email you via the letter icon on your messages to arrange delivery or handing over, depending where you live. I will contact you direct.

Thank you.I would be most interested to receive these items.Unfortunately Grannie Alice died the year before I was born so I did not know her and it would make a nice connection with her.Once again thank you.
