Andrew WOOD b circa 1836 Dymock (General)

I am unable to find any record of the birth/baptism of my gx2 grandfather Andrew WOOD abt 1836 in or around Dymock.

In the 1841 census he is living with his mother Sarah WOOD (1811 - 1894) and his brother Richard WOOD (1838 - 1913). Richard's baptism is recorded in Dymock in Dec 1838 and he was base born (illegitimate).

Sarah married William PROTHERO (1811 - 1892) in 1844 in Dymock and Richard took the PROTHERO name.

Andrew used both WOOD and PROTHERO at different times. I have found him in each census in Dymock until his death and I have found records of Andrew's marriage and burial in Dymock and Sarah's baptism at Redmarley.

I would welcome any suggestions as to where to look now.
Thanks
Ann

You say you have details of Andrews marriage, did he marry Rosanna Gittings? If so it shows his father as being William Perthus on the Parish Records.
You can put in a request to Admin to see if someone can check the Parish Records to confirm if the surname is Perthus, and it is not a transcription error.

Yes that is his marriage - I have a copy of the marriage certificate and it is very poor writing which I believe to be 'Prothero' but it could be read as 'Perthus'- however I can find no record of his baptism as Prothero or Wood.

Thanks
