William Roberts born Woolaston abt 1797 (General)

I am wondering how William ROBERTS who was born in Woolaston abt 1797 and married Charlotte POWELL on 5 Dec 1829 fits into the ROBERTS family from Woolaston that I am researching.

In my tree I have Elizabeth ROBERTS born 1828 in Woolaston who married Joseph PRICE of Chepstow on 20 Dec 1849. Elizabeth's parents were Thomas ROBERTS and Ellen DAVIES also of Woolaston. Could William born abt 1797 and Thomas be brothers?

This is my first posting on this wonderful site and I have searched without success for an answer before posting this message. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I suspect that Thomas and Hannah Roberts may not have arrived in Woolaston until about 1800, as the earliest references I can find in the registers are the burial of their first daughter Mary 11th January 1802 and the baptism of Elizabeth 17th October 1802.

However in a parish census about 1818 is the following:
Thomas and Hannah Roberts
Thomas 21
William 19
Betsy 15
Hannah 13
James 10
Mary 7

So I think you can add William to the family!

Thought the following inscription in the churchyard might also be of interest:
In MEMORY of / Thomas Roberts / who died Febry 18 1829 Aged ... /
A loving Husband and a Father dear / A Faithful Friend lies buried here.

Hope this helps. Biddy

Thank you very much for that information biddy. I live a long way from Woolaston and as yet have not visited although it is definitely on the agenda. Can I safely assume that all the Roberts that lived in Woolaston are related?
