Thomas DANIEL burial 7.10.1857 with Coroner's consent (General)
by Lyn Elgood , Tuesday, October 28, 2008, 15:21 (5889 days ago)
I suspect that this 21 year old Thomas was the son of Thomas and Elizabeth Daniel bapt.20.8.1835
Are coroner's reports of that era available and is it possible that someone could look this once up for me please. I would be interested to find out the circumstances surrounding his death. Perhaps there may be a newspaper report of an accident.
I live in Australia and would appreciate it if someone could shed some light on this for me please.

Thank you Slow hands for your reply
And yes, I was confused. I had earlier tried to find a birth for this fellow's great-grandfather Edward Daniel (born c.1777) and then information on his grandfather Thomas. I had jotted down some notes and when looking back at the notes I picked up the wrong christian name. Just call it a 'seniors moment'!
Thank you for the information you have supplied - I did find both these records on the website.
Do you know if coroner's reports for 'accidental or suspicious' deaths are available (that is assuming that if the coroner was involved that his death needed to be investigated for somer reason). I thought they might possibly be available at Hereford Record Office - do you know if that is the case.

I think in general the Coroner is involved when the death is "Un-expected".
If the Coroner is satisfied the death can be explained often there is no need for an enquiry.
The Coroner issues a Warrant to allow the burial to take place.
So it is possible that because of the age the Coroner was notified and issued his approval to bury without a formal investigation. What the circumstances were may not have been recorded or reported, or they may have been :-)
Herfordshire archives would be my first port of call...
