Nashes of the Forest of Dean (General)

Amey Nash was the sister of my gg-grandfather Jeremiah Nash, whose wife and children immigrated to the US and Canada. We have no information on Amey and her descendents and would love to learn more!

The father of Amey and Jeremiah, William Nash (1806-1850) was a freeminer who managed Old Sling Pit Iron Mine and passed away when Jeremiah was 17 and Jeremiah was 6. Their mother Sarah Jenkins and the younger children lived afterward as paupers. Seventy years later, Jeremiah's son, Thomas Nash, my great grandfather, left his family in the US in 1922 in a misguided attempt to reclaim Old Sling Pit Iron Mine for the family. You can find details on some of the descendents of William Nash and Sarah Jenkins (the "Jenkins Nashes") at http://www.nashfamilyhistory.com/nashnewpage.htm .

William Nash was the son of John Nash (c1776-1855) and Sarah Jones (before 1780-before 1841). We're not 100% certain of the parents of John and his brothers, but by process of eliminating the unlikely candidates, we believe that they could be Richard Nash (c1746-???) and Mary Harrison (c1749-???).

We have a Yahoo group for the descendents of the Nashes of the Forest of Dean at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/nash_fod/ . For the last two years, we have been reuniting our extended Nash family, now living in England, Wales, Scotland, Canada, the US, and Australia, and are attempting to preserve oral history and compile a master family tree.
