Elizabeth WINTLE b 1843 (General)

by Philippa, Tuesday, November 11, 2008, 07:03 (5868 days ago)

Hi

I've moved on from Frowen, Meek and Kearsey for now and am looking at the Wintle family.

Does anyone know which of these two marriages is the correct one for Elizabeth Wintle b 1843 - parents George Wintle b circa 1825 and Mary Ann Wintle nee Biddington b circa 1824.

I am more inclined toward the 1861 marriage as Elizabeth is not listed as living with the family on the cenusus of that year, but I can't read the address of the family on the record (the one below is listed as Parkend).

If anyone has any info on this I would be very grateful.

Thanks

These 2 Wintle families are connected e.g.

John Wintle 1759-1837 (his ancestors origninally of Longhope, then Llansamlet, then by the 1820's of Parkend - this line not to be confused with the Wintle family of Coleford). Among his numerous children were 2 sons - James & George.

James 1797-1873 had a son George James Wintle 1823-1913 who married 4 Feb 1843 Mary Ann Biddington. Their eldest child, Elizabeth bap 9 Ap 1843 Parkend married 27 Aug 1861 William Thomas at Parkend.

George 1804-1886 = (1) 9 Jan 1826 Elizabeth Dobbs & they were the parents of Elizabeth Wintle bap 5 Feb 1843 also at Parkend.

Hi Philippa, My GGG Grandmother was a Elizabeth Wintle B1834. She was married to Charles Wintle on 7 Sep 1850.Elizabeth is buried in Bream Churchyard. I also noticed that you have been researching the Frowen family name, I also have the Frowen name in my family tree. My Great Grand mother was a Frowen from the West Dean - Milkwall/Newland area wouldn't it be a coincidence if we were part of the same tree. Regard Tich.
