BRYAN Edward Henry (Rev.) - marriage 1849 (General)
The Courier - Hobart, Tasmania
Wednesday 26 September 1849
LOCAL (News).
MARRIED, at Trinity Church, Hobart Town, on
the 25th instant, by the Right Reverend the Lord Bishop
of Tasmania, the REVEREND EDWARD HENRY BRYAN,
Chaplin of Dysart, Van Diemen's Land, second son of the
Reverend Charles Bryan, Rector of Woolastone and
Alvington, Gloucestershire, to HARRIET URSULA, eldest
daughter of the Reverend Philip Palmer, A.M., Rural
Dean of Van Diemen's Land, and Incumbent of Trinity
Church. It was pleasing to witness on this occasion
(according to the custom of our Father-land) the attendance
of a large number of the children of the Sunday School,
attached to the parish, over one of which the bride had for
some time presided. Their quiet demeanour in the church
clearly indicated that they had not failed to profit by the
instruction they had received. After the ceremony they
demonstrated their affectionate regard to the youthful bride
and her husband by strewing flowers in their path to the
carriage, and the English character of the scene was further
heightened by the exhilarating sounds of a merry peal on
the church bells.
Cheers,
Don Cameron.
