HAWKINS Newland Parish records - new additions (General)
I thought I've seen it all! I complain about and criticize these "new" names, today's infants are given. Nothing IMHO, can top this one! Kerenhappuch Hawkins! Fanny and Eliza must have been taken! Her nickname was probably, "Poochie"!

The biblical names are very interesting and of course popular in the Forest at the time. No doubt in 100 years time future researchers will look back at some of today's names and wonder :-)

Keren-Happuch was the daughter of Job, and along with her sisters whose names are more commonly used (Kezia and Jemima). They were described as the most beautiful women in the land and were part of the compensation Job was given for all he had endured.
