Thank you for the Forest of Dean Inquests.

I have now discovered from these Inquests, 2 of my x Grandfathers, William John WICKENDEN c 1820 and his Son William WICKENDEN c1845 attended Inquests from 1868 until 1875 (sometimes spelt WICKENDON on the Inquest transcriptions.

William c 1820 was the Miller in Rendcombe 1841/1851/1861 and in 1871 joined his Son William c 1845 in Blakeney, where at that time William was the Butcher.

By 1881/1891, William c 1820 appears on the census, in Swindon, Wiltshire, with his wife Margaret calling himself by the surname GREEN (his mother's maiden name) born Rendcombe - listing one of his grandaughter Martha WICKENDEN and his occupation Railway Labourer. Only his death certificate reveals his true identity and listed as a Retired Farmer.

So now I have some idea, when he 'did a runner' to Swindon - but don't know why!!!
