Its a long shot, but instinct says start looking in the Ruardean registers, based on a cluster of Wilce families.

Then move out towards Coleford/Newland, Westbury on Severn, etc etc

by "coincidence" Ruardean's butcher in 1914 was Ernest Wilce..
