My uncle Harold was the licensee of the Bird in the 50's and 60's. It was owned by Georges Brewery (Bristol) at the start of his tenancy. Later in his tenancy the Georges brewery was taken over by the Courages brewery. I have a photo of Broadwell from that time showing the Bird, and my grandparent's cottage next door, where I was born. I still live locally.
