Ihave no information other than John Amphlett is listed as Alice Jane's father on her marriage certificate and census records show her place of birth as Lydney.
My grandfather's middle name is Amphlett but I don't recall any converstaions at all about the Amphlett family.
Unfortunately prior to Alices's marriage I can't find any census records - is her birth recorded under a different surname - dare I say - illegitimate!!
by saphire, (6141 days ago) @ susanbeamish

I have some Amphlett ancestors who came from Twyning. The oldest is Charles born 1801 and his wife Mary born 1811. They had 6 children - Elizabeth 1832, Thomas 1839, Joseph 1842, Comfort 1944, Henry 1848 and Emma 1850.
Some of the children were born in Twyning and some in Tewkwsbury where the family lived during the 1851 and 1871 censuses. I have some more information if you are interested.
