Rollings & Nelson HADDOCK again (General)

Hi All

I know there have been many prior discussions on Rollings / Rawlings HADDOCK but I would just like to add a little more. I have two Rollings HADDOCKs in my tree and through marriage the name has also been passed to my CREED relatives.

Selina CREED (b1847 English Bicknor) married Rollings HADDOCK (b1845 Lydbrook)in 1871. Two of her brothers (Alfred and Henry) named a son Rollings CREED (both born 1892)one of whom was my grandfather's cousin and one of their brothers passed the name on to the next generation in 1917.

I have Nelson Horatio HADDOCK marrying Jane JAMES (nee DAVIES) and have seen previous discussions on this marriage and I also know that his father was a Rollings HADDOCK but do not know any details of this Rollings or whether Nelson Horatio / Horatio Nelson (I have seen it written both ways round) had any siblings. Is there a link between Joseph b1785 and Sarah b1808?

Nelson had a number of children and was living with his son Rollings on the 1881 census and died in 1890 Lydbrook.

Thanks for any information on his family.

Nelson visited the Forest in 1802 and uses Forest Oak in his ships.
Horatio Nelson had died in 1805 following the Battle of Trafalgar so easy to understand how the family took the name as a first name. I suspect over time young Nelson "took on" the full name of Englands hero :-)

wrt the other HADDOCKs in the Whitchurch / New Weir area - I'm 95% sure they are related
