Hello,

I am trying to find imformation on Comfort Jeynes born 19 Feb 1844. I have her Birth Certificate, and have found her on the 1851 Census living with her parents John and Mary Maria Jeynes (Jeans), after this I can find no trace of her. Does anyone have any ideas where I could find her.

Any help would be appreciated

I have found one Confort Jeynes registered birth in Newent in 1844. As you say you have located her in the 1851 census, but not later census'.

There is a marriage registered in Newent (Vol 6a, Page 498) in 1870 for a COMFORT JONES. Could this be the same women? I believe that she married a ALFRED HOOK.

Hi Chris

Many Thanks for replying, your help is appreciated.

Your suggestion could be right, the name Jeynes has been spelt with so many variants I'm wondering if it was spelt Janes but looked like Jones when it was transcribed. I will delve into this further.

I thought Jeynes was an unusual name till I started the Family Tree, there are loads of them all in the same area that I'm looking in.

Regards
Karen
