Firstly many thanks to everyone who has sent me info on the forums about my Family it really is much appreciated.I have another query if anyone can help does anyone know if the Cornelius Mason who was married to Harriet Cooper was anyway related to Noah Mason? I earlier posted there was rumour in my Family that the Masons married into a Romany family once and this has been told to me again recently and that there wasa Cooper romany family in the Forest of Dean area maybe this could be the link?

Cornelius & Noah Mason are both in my family tree, they are first cousins.

Both are related to me as 6th cousins 3 times removed.

I have as usual however gained additional information as supplied by Slowhands.

I'm sorry, I should have explained more clearly.

As has been noted from the marriage details for Cornelius Mason & Harriett Cooper, his father was John Mason baptised 23 Oct 1808, this is also confirmed by the 1841 Census entry added by Slowhands (which I didn't have). Not shown here is that his mother was Diana Ford who married John Mason 4 Mar 1835 at Ruardean.

John Mason 1808 was the son of George Mason B. 1765 & Mary Tippins B. 1765, married 7 November 1787 Ruardean. They had 8 children including John as above, also Thomas Mason B. 1804 who married Zilpah Chivers, they had 7 children including Noah B. 1837.

if you are descended from Noah, then we too are related. I only have details of one more generation for 3 of their 10 children; Jacob, Thomas & Joseph and would be interested in more details if you could contact me via my email address, using the envelope icon.

My interest in this line is that Mary Tippins 1765 was the daughter of William Tippins 1744 and Sarah Wilce 1745, Sarah Wilce 1745 being the daughter of Thomas Wilce 1707 & Susannah Marfell 1706.

It will be of interest to you to search the Forum for Winifred Foley. She is descended from Nathanial Mason 1798, also a son of George Mason 1765 & Mary Tippins.

To find out where Harriet was born (on her marriage, Thomas (father) occupation Labourer) - Looking at the 1861 Census, Cornelius & Harriet MASON are in Ruardean (District 7 Page 20) - all the family 'say' they were born in Ruardean

Cornelius - 32 (Stonemason)
Harriet - 28
John - 7
Thomas - 4
Dinah - 2

Possible ?
On the 1841 Census, for Dean Forest Ross, District 12a Page 6 - Anchorbury
(Monmouth - Coleford) - also listed on the FOD records (Submenu) census index

Wm COOPER age 25 - Carrier (christened EB 1816- father Thomas, Labourer)
Sarah - 20 (christened English Bicknor 1818)
Mary - 20 (christened EB 1820)
Thomas - 15 (christened EB 1825)
Hannah - 12 (christened EB 1828)
Harriot - 8 (christened 16 June 1833 EB)

On FOD records, parents Thomas & Mary

Ruardean is about 3 miles from English Bicknor

Hangerbury is in Lydbrook. Lydbrook Parish Church opened in 1851 and nearest parish church to Hangerbury beforehand would be English Bicknor.
