Richard James 1725 - 1801
According to the transcript of Richard James Will.
He owned coal works
One was named Starkey and the other was named Barsenberes, both situated in The Hundred of St Briavel.
Any information would be much appreciated.

Good detailed history of Bowson mine here

"Bowson House" often appears in PRs, Census and Trade Directory reports, along with various wellknown surnames eg Hale & Teague.
I suspect it was of some size, and being near to the pits I wonder if it was sometimes a lodging house for engineers and mine officials while working in the area ?.

The excellent Wild Swan railway book "The Forest of Dean Branch Vol 2", by Ian Pope of Lightmoor site fame, carries many old photos & history of the Bowson mine and adjoining areas.
