Hi,
I am new to this site so please bear with me .I am trying to find some info on my G, G, grandad ,in the 1901 census he was living in fenton, stoke on trent ,he was married to Mary Anne Hinds , who came from Trentham S O T, and had five children the eldest was 21 .In the 1901 census it says he was 49 ,a coliery overman and he came from Glouster ,Forest of Dean .I have checked out the birth parish records on this site and there are three to choose from , so i dont know which if any he could be as i dont have a village name.My obvious question is this , as anyone got any info on Tom! My other question is why did he come upto the potteries to be a miner when Wales and the surrounding areas had plenty of pits to work at that time , was it something the local lads did ? If anyone could help me with my quest please get intouch , thanks , Sid.
