I don't know if this helps you up the tree with your Hawkins of Newland research, but I have seen a connection between Hawkins of Newland and Bedoes of Awre. (I found it while looking an the ancestry, largely by female chain, of Ann Shaw, b. 14/11/1793, wife of William Sterry, born c. 1794 believed Minsterworth, a chain provided by the correspondent known on here as "howellhouse.")

The transcribed Awre marriage records available on this site show a wedding on 17/05/1701 between Ann Bedoes of that parish and Edward Hawkins, stated to be "of Newland."

The Newland transcriptions give the baptism of an Edward Hawkins there on 21/07/1672, with the father as Henry and the mother as Elizabeth, and the residence as "of Colford". A Henry Hawkins is shown baptised Newland on 09/12/1627, father shown as Peter "of Colford."

I also saw in the transcriptions that an Edward Hawkins was baptised at Newland on 12/09/1651, father Edward, mother Joan. I supposed that he might have got married at Awre when he was 49, but thought if either of these Edwards was the bridegroom of Ann Bedoes it was more likely to be the baptisee of 1672.
