Thomas Archibald TAYLOR b Dec 1894 Lydbrook (General)

by vblease, Saturday, December 12, 2009, 16:54 (5535 days ago)

I'm looking for anyone who may have information about my husbands Great Uncle - Thomas Archibald Taylor. He was born (I believe) the 23 December 1894 to Thomas Archibald Taylor and Emma Taylor nee Charles. He was christened on the 15 February 1895 at Lydney Parish Chapel.

I know very little about him other than he discharged from the Army in 1915 as medically unfit. I believe that he died in 1973 in Gloucester City.

I would love to find out if he married and had children, or if anyone has any pictures of him. He had 2 sisters, Alice Elizabeth and Helen Henrietta (called Nell). Nell lived in Lydbrook all her life and married Gilbert Barnett and Alice Elizabeth went to London and married William Henry Williams.

Here's hoping someone knows about him!

Val

Hi Rosemarie
I think you are probably the Rosemarie that I am already in contact with,if not then please send me a private e-mail and I will respond to you separately with what information I have about Emma. This post has got some excellent results.

The first reply (if you look at the list of replies is from a Chris Jennings and she is the daughter of Thomas Archibald Taylor and someone I didn't even know existed.

When I get Christmas over then I shall be able to spend a bit of time looking at what I've got in response to my posting. I did find out that the picture of the Tin Plate Works in 1919 (I think thats the date from memory) which I sent to the Forest of Dean Family History society has Thomas Archibald Taylor standing on the far left with his hand on the shovel.

I'll be in touch soon.

Many thanks for your reply and the information on his marriage. I had a response from Thomas Archibald's daughter, which is great news - but I haven't had time yet to find out all the details, so thanks for your work.

What a great website.

Thanks again
Val

Hi all

I realise that this is an old thread, however I am looking into Taylor's from Lydbrook. I believe Thomas Archibald Taylor may be the same person who was present at the fire in Hubert Taylor's house around 1915? Hubert Taylor was the brother of my great-great Grandfather, Thomas Frederick Taylor, both miners. Any help regarding the Taylor family or indeed the Knight family who appear to have married Taylor's would be great fully received.

Many thanks
Luke
