Additional records added on the web site:

Huntley Marriages 1813-1837
Minsterworth Marriages 1813-1837

We now have a number of volunteers who are already working on transcribing the
records of some of the parishes within Forest. Thanks to all of you who have
come forward to help with this project by contributing your time in order to
make it a success.

Graham Davison, the project co-ordinator has ordered a number of microfiche from
the Gloucester Record Office (GRO) of the original Parish Register records
within the Forest of Dean. Once these records are available they will then be
transcribed and be made available on the web site.

Progressively, more records will be ordered and transcribed and the aim of the
project is to eventually have databases covering all the parishes within the
Forest.

Still more volunteers are required to help with the transcriptions. If you are
interested in contributing to the project as a volunteer, use the "Contact Us"
form on the web site to get in touch with Graham.

If you consider this project and other resources which are available on this web
site useful, please consider making a donation so we can continue to make them
freely available to all family history researchers together with additional
material which is continually being added. Details of how to donate are on the
web site.

Enjoy

Hello David,

I notice that 'Mike John' runs a Monmouthshire FH website at
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/monfh/

He photographs the registers with a digital camera and then posts them on his website. Volunteers from far and wide can then do a transcription.
Another way of spreading the load.

Gordon.

Photographing the Parish Registers

Gordon

Thanks for your suggestion and it's interesting that you mentioned taking pictures of the registers as this week Gordon and May are making a visit to the Gloucester Records Office to experiment in doing this.

If it all works out well, we will then be able to distribute images of the records to some of the volunteers who have offered to help with the project.
