Dorethea Miller born St Briavels 1825 (General)
by odoorn keith, Thursday, February 11, 2010, 14:39 (5474 days ago)
Hi, my name is Keith, living in the small village of Odoorn in the province of Drenthe, Holland, currently covered in snow.
I am looking for birth and family details of my great grandmother Dorethea Miller and her mother Hannah. I understand Dorethea was born 1825 in St Briavels. In 1845 she was married in London to her cousin, my great grandfather Edward Miller, an omnibus driver. Dorethea's mother, Hannah was born about 1787 in Hudsfield, Gloucestershire, she was married to John Miller, born 1795. The Millers came from Hemmingston in Suffolk.
What I am searching for:-
- the date of Hannah's marriage, her maiden name and names of her parents.
- Hudsfield may not be a correct spelling, the census return is difficult to read, so any suggestions for a correct place name.
- any confirmation for the birth of a Dorethea Miller in St Briavels.
I have tried the Forest of Dean search engine but this found nothing.

Absolutely astounding, I've learnt more in the last few hours than in the last two years!
Many, many thanks to Slowhands, if anyone has an inappropriate name, it must be you.
In particular thanks for the link to the question from lewis.mc, at
http://www.forum.forest-of-dean.net/index.php?mode=thread&id=14764
Clearly, we are related.
Is there some way I can contact lewis.mc direct by email, and
Would it be possible to discover the name of the public house in which John Miller was the publican/innkeeper about 1825? I presumme it would have been in St Briavels.

I can contact lewis.mc direct by email
Normally there is an envelope icon near the user name, in this case the user - Matthew Lewis ? - seems to have "lapsed" - sorry
