You can do a witness search by using the the Advanced Search facility.
Directly below the main search form you will see a link to the Advanced Search facility.

If you search for the marriage the witnesses will be there if they were recorded at the time.

Ah, it's not the actual marriages I am looking for, I am seeking those who were witnesses as sometimes it throws up someone you didn't even know existed. I have found several family names that way. Of course, you have difficulty in placing them within a certain family but occasionally, they fit. For instance, James BROWN marries Eliza GREEN but as you haven't either of these names in your family(so wouldn't even consider them), you wouldn't realise that a John LAWRENCE, possibly one of your family was a witness to their marriage if you hadn't previously found him being born, married or deceased. A bit of a weird way to work I know but it can be helpful.

Yes I've done that too Wyerunner! It can work a treat sometimes can't it, if only to confirm a suspicion about something-; I'm sure you know what I mean:)
