How to Find a Location where your ancestors lived (General)

Very often people make a request in the forum seeking the location of place.
For some time we've had a facility on this Web site for you to easily search and find locations on a map where your ancestors lived. With so much material on the Web site the links to this facility were often missed, so I have now included a Find a Location link on the top menu of the forum pages.
Examples of what to enter into the search box
Cinderhill, Ruardean, Gloucestershire (where my grandfather was born)
Morse Rd, Ruardean, Gloucestershire (where my father was born)
Darlington, Western Australia (where I live)
Some locations of course you will never find as they no longer exist, or they were just names of places used by the local people. But, for the most part it is a useful tool for the researcher.
And don't forget the Parish Map

- You can find out the distance between any two parishes by entering the parish names in the from and to boxes.
- Click on the red marker of a parish and you will see the church name

Ordnance Survey Map

Another map has been added on the Web site to assist you in locating places.
This Ordnance Survey map is very useful in locating places that you will not normally find on Street maps or Google maps.
