George BRYANT (General)

by Bra1thwell, Friday, July 16, 2010, 15:05 (5249 days ago)

This chap appears on the same 1841 census as Stephen BRYANT (see separate thread)and Stephen's children Eliza and Samuel (I am guessing that the first born Elizabeth passed away at a yound age because she isn't mentioned) and I wondered if George (who appears to live next door) might be Stephen's brother or some other relative? A further twist is as follows....Eliza is Alfred BRYANT's mother and she is listed in the FOD Parish Records as being "Single" whereas Aldre BRYANT's birth certificate states his parents as being Eliza BRYANT and a certain George BRYANT! Maybe Eliza was ashamed and simply made up any old name for the certificate or maybe there was a "family incident"?

Regards,
Ian

Sorry "Aldre" should of course read "Alfred".
