Benedict Bennett 1780 Ruardean (General)

by winky @, Winelands, South Africa, Wednesday, August 25, 2010, 08:12 (5210 days ago)

I have found the parents of Benedict to be James and Elizabeth Bennett - this is where the difficulty lies! I cannot discern which Elizabeth was the mother.

Would anyone be able to help me with this please? I have read the earlier postings particularly the detailed one which Jim submitted on the James Bennetts but am no wiser, so would be grateful for any help.

Benedict went on to marry John Yeme and died in Cinderford, presumably when she was staying at her daughter Keron Bradleys house(?) in 1856.

Thank you for any help.

Thank you Slowhands for being so quick off the mark.
Could you please tell me whom else was in the house with Benmedictia in 1851 as Find My past will not bring her up for me?
Thank you very much.

Need to be a bit careful about Jonathon Yemm. First Jonathon Yemm baptised 6 Apr 1803, on BT but not PR. Then :

Year: 1806
Month: Feb
Day: 7
Surname: YEME
Forenames: Jonathan
Residence:
Age_at_death: 3
Officiating_Minister: J H BEESTON
Event: Burial
Cause_of_death:
Memoranda:
Notes:
Register_Reference: P275 IN 1/6
Page_No: 58
Parish_Chapel: Ruardean
Soundex: Y500

Then following another baptism 4 Feb 1821 :

Year: 1821
Month: Feb
Day: 4
Parents_Surname: YEM
Child_Forenames: Jonathan
Fathers_Forenames: John
Mothers_Forenames: Benedicta
Mothers_Surname:
Residence: Lidbrook
Occupation: Collier
Officiating_Minister: H. Berkin
Event: Baptism
Memoranda:
Notes:
Register_Reference: P109 IN 1/1
Page_Number: 26
Parish_Chapel: Drybrook

Another burial :

Year: 1822
Month: Nov
Day: 23
Surname: YEM
Forenames: Jonathan
Residence: Forest of Dean
Age_at_death: 2 y[ea]rs
Officiating_Minister: G D Fosbroke Min[iste]r
Event: Burial
Cause_of_death:
Memoranda: son of John and Benedicta
Notes:
Register_Reference: P275 IN 1/12
Page_No: 36
Parish_Chapel: Ruardean

The George you have shown was actually living next to Benedicta and brother William and family in 1851 :

1851 Census West Dean
27
YEM George 33 Collier West Dean
Ellen 33 Lydney
George 11 Tredgar Wales
Paulina 6 East Dean
Benjamin 4 East Dean
David 1 West Dean

28
YEM Bennedictia Widow/er 71 Ruardean
William 44 Collier Boarts ?
Maria 39 Lydbrook
George 17 Collier Lydbrook
Kezia 16 Lydbrook
William 10 Collier Ruardean
Thomas 9 Boarts
John 5 Boarts
Sarah 1 Boarts
Hannah 11m Boarts

Benedicta also had an illegitimate child :

Year: 1801
Month: Nov
Day: 15
Parents_Surname: BENNETT
Child_Forenames: Kezia
Fathers_Forenames: not stated
Mothers_Forenames: Benedict
Mothers_Surname:
Residence:
Occupation:
Officiating_Minister: J H BEESTON - minister
Event: Baptism
Memoranda: base daughter
Notes:
Register_Reference: P275 IN 1/6
Page_Number: 40
Parish_Chapel: Ruardean

Interesting that her son William named a child Kezia, as shown on the 1851 Census.

This nicely highlights that I sometimes get carried away following siblings and parents of spouses. My only involvement here is that Benedicta's brother William 1775 married Lydia Gagg 1776, my 1st cousin 6 times removed.
