Descendants of Mrs. Jane Turnbull and Mr Charles Turnbull. (General)
I would be interested if any descendants of this family are reading this posting as I have a lovely letter which I could scan for them from Mrs. J Turnbull to my ancestors (Mr. and Mrs. Rook) who moved to Sheffield. Mrs. Turnbull had a child, referred to as Charley in the letter but as Charles in the burial record. He died aged 3 yrs and 2 months, buried 4/11/1976 in Coleford Cemetery [Grave number 55 (4)]. This grave is next but one to my great great uncle, William Charles Stepehn Rook, who died aged 2 years and four months of scarletina on 31/12/1877. The family moved to Sheffield but Mrs. Turnbull kindly tended the grave, she wrote that she had put daisies and moss on both graves.
I would also be interested to know if these are marked graves and if so are the headstones still there?
According to the parish records on your website Mrs. Turnbull died herself in 1889 aged 45 and her husband died in 1909 aged 59. The husband's burial record states that he was an oil merchant. My great great grandfather (William's father) died aged 65 in 1883 of a heart attack and his wife, Eliza Agnes, my great great grandmother died in 1897 aged about 59 years.
