..... a word of caution - you may be fortunate to find "your" tree / branch on a Public web site - you can just accept this information and plough on. However my advice is to use this information as a guide and revalidate it against multiple sources and your own common sense. You may be surprised at how many assumptions have been made, which in turn cause you to reject parts of this information. By the way, the same is true of any of the responses I provide on this Forum.

re "James E. Tingle" of Cinderford

by Jefff @, West London, Middlesex, Friday, January 29, 2016, 20:50 (3226 days ago) @ m p griffiths

I see an Obed Tingle(invalid) shown in the 1861 Census in the above post, with his 18 year old brother James E. Tingle.

Seeing the unusual name of Obed I suspect that this is the same family, and his brother is James Edward as mentioned in the following Marriage Record for a different Obed Tingle, presumably James Edward named his own son after his brother.

These items were found while generally searching old newspapers for Tingles of Cinderford for this post, http://www.forest-of-dean.net/fodmembers/index.php?id=46752

Hopefully this information will help other Tingle researchers.

--------------

This Cinderford Tingle gets a few mentions for minor traffic offences c1910, his less prosperous life (compared to Alfred Elam Tingle engineer) ends thus;

"Cinderford. DROVER'S SUDDEN DEATH.
The Dean Forest Coroner (Mr. M. P. Carter) held an inquest on Wednesday afternoon, at Brierley, into the circumstances attending the death of Obed Minett Tingle, aged 50, a drover and dealer, of Heywood road, Cinderford. The evidence showed that deceased was Monday, in company with Reginald Roberts, driving slteep from St. Briavels Ruardean Hill. They reached the Swan Inn Brierley and went in for refreshment, and after staying a few minutes proceeded on their journey. Deceased asked his companion to look after the sheep for few minutes while he retired. As he was away longer than his companion expected him to be, Roberts went to see what was the matter. He met Tingle and saw that he appeared be ill. Roberts assisted him a seat near by, and deceased complained of pains round his heart. Percy who was passing the time, came to their assistance, and deceased was moved into the inn and placed in chair. On the suggestion the landlady, Dr. Stanger was sent for, but Tingle died before the doctor could arrive. The Coroner recorded a verdict of death from chronic Bright's disease and heart failure."
