by unknown, Thursday, September 30, 2010, 09:40 (5173 days ago)

I have just come across the following within my HADDOCK file, but I am at a loss to find which family this child belongs to:-

Death: 5th March 1879 William Rawling HADDOCK. Cause of death Phthisi, 2 months, registered by Tom Haddock, present at death.

Could anyone shed some light on this for me please.

Thank you
Sue Bell

This could be him (taken from the parish records on this website) but there is a couple of years or so difference of when he was born.

To try and clarify if he is the correct person, do you have any more information and what was the source of the death details you have?

William Rawling HADDOCK death 5th March 1879

by barbaralavender @, Thursday, September 30, 2010, 19:00 (5173 days ago) @ unknown

I may be able to help. In my HADDOCK notes I have a William Rollings HADDOCK who was buried at Cinderford St Johns on 9th March 1879, aged 32 years. I'm fairly certain that this William was the brother of Tom Watts HADDOCK, born 1845 Monmouth. The reference to phthisis, 2 months, could be that William had been suffering from tuberculosis for two months prior to his death. His brother Tom could be the person who registered the death.

Barbara, thanks for your reply. You are correct, this is the William Rawling HADDOCK my notes refer to. I was reading it as age at death "2 months", not length of illness. Just another senior moment!
Thanks again, Sue

Thanks to everyone who answered my query and I can now see where I have been confused. I came across this piece of handwritten information within my HADDOCK notes but I couldn't tie it in with anyone as I read this as being a child of "2 months" not the length of illness. Thanks again for all your help and I will try and make sure that in future I keep more detailed source notes.
