James Tingle, Littledean ? Which one ? (General)

by GrandDad, Friday, October 01, 2010, 20:23 (5172 days ago)

I have Sarah Tingle marries Richard Read on 9th.May.1806.
Father of Sarah = James Tingle of Littledean.
But when I try to look at the FoD records it looks like at least two James Tingle about the same dates in Littledean.
Is there any way to know which one might be correct ?
Has anyone links to this Tingle Family ?
I think the name was on the forum some time ago, but not able to find it now.

I'm not sure where James TINGLE comes from other than as a witness to the marriage, its a while since "we" explored this ;-)

although
http://www.forum.forest-of-dean.net/index.php?id=14634 seems to narrow down James TINGLE as the grandson of James Tingle and Sarah Hobbs.

James Tingle, Littledean ? Which one ?

by fraser-donna @, Sunday, October 03, 2010, 05:27 (5171 days ago) @ GrandDad

I am also researching the Tingle family of Littledean. I think the two James Tingles you are referring to are as follows:

James c. 3 Feb 1753 and buried 5 (or 15?) Feb 1753, the son of William Tingle & Anne Morgan. This is my line with William being my 5th Great Grand-Uncle.

James c. 6 Apr 1755 son of James Tingle & Sarah Hobbs. This James had a son Robert who was named in his grandfather James Tingle's will. That will is a gold mine for your family.

I hope this is helpful and wonder if we might link up a few generations farther back.

I would also like to take this opportunity to thank Slow Hands for all his help on this list.

James Tingle, Littledean ? Which one ?

Thank you very much Donna for the information
My James Tingle is the one who married Sarah Hobbs.
I have one of their children as Robert - so that will sounds as if it will be relevant ?
Might I ask how do I obtain a copy of this will mentioned ?

With that Tingle name, and the F.o.D. area, it looks as if there might be a connection with our Tingles.

I also have a connection with the Tingle Family. My grandfather William Gardner b. 1898 married a Nora Tingle (might also have been known as Laura). They subsequently got divorced and Nora moved to Deal in Kent where she married a Archibald Parker.
