Gaius Charles Bullock (General)

I now have his birth certificate. Father's name Joseph, mother's name Elizabeth formerly Hancox. DoB 13th March 1882.
Found many Josephs in the Westbury area.
Cannot find a match for his Father or Mother, the best one is Charles Bullock (DoB abt 1815) and a Mary Ann (BoB abt 1832 from Slimbridge).

At this stage you try to get a "best fit" and then cross check / reject based on other information that comes to light later perhaps !
for example
Gaius is not a first name that fills Baptism registers , so ...

Another Gaius, unbelievable.
Are you suggesting that when the Registar ask for the former name of Elizabeth he entered Hancox as it sounded like Hancocks?
