I am searching for information on any of the above family names I have records showing my Grandfather William James Moody as delivery boy in Ruardean ....also Elizabeth wilce who married my great Grandfather James Edward Moody she died we believe in child brith in 1891 leaving a son Edward Samuel Moody who was brought up by a family called Wilkes i have just managed to find this information out after many years as we were not aware of his name been Edward and only had heresay but have been unable to find his bith reg or baptism. Our tree is complicated by the fact we have have James Edwards mother's maiden as Wilkes(Elizabeth) Also any information on a Mary Jane Addis as she was witness at the wedding of james Moody and elizabeth wilce in drybrook parish any help or recollections appreciated

William Moody was my Grandfather he was left in down in the forest with his bother Ernest (who later went to the USA and Canada) when his mother passed away we suspect when Edward Samuel was born in 1892 his father james took his younger sister Lillie who was also born in the forest to Leeds to be with family there. James worked in the mine in Ruardean no idea which one an no idea how to access record to find out.Know William worked for we think family member as delivery boy but not found any directories that could help with my search.

Searching for any information on Moody Wilkes and Wilce

by Barlowlass, Thursday, October 14, 2010, 22:41 (5159 days ago) @ m p griffiths

MP Griffiths yes does get bit confussed like i say so much going on at that time i know Ernest was living with diffrent family to William my grandad so looks like your on the right track.
Ernest was living with grandmother charlotte smith Nee Nelmes later wilce. Wonder about the Meeks because somewhere in my distant memories that rings bells my look into that one

William my Grandfather was living with Lydia Wilce perhaps married to a Thomas wilce born 1829 as the census of 1861 shows him living with his family in a public grocers could it be the same one Lydia is operating. It would appear that his Brother Edward Samuel was taken in by a family called Wilkes which adds to the confussion i have found him in Gloucester and have full army record etc and proof that is is the adopted son he is with but have found no record of him in the Forest it is his mother Elizabeths death you found in Ruarden.

This part of the Journey has been complex but not half as much as the journey down to the forest from Birmingham so thankyou for all the help.
