by kathleenpack , Friday, October 15, 2010, 17:58 (5158 days ago)
Hello, does anyone have any info on the Hattons of Newland. I am trying to trace the parents of Thomas Hatton, born abt 1807 in Newland. I've had no success so far. Can anyone help please?
Thanks

I'd be surprised if we have not covered this family before :-)
Some further context would help - separate him from the Tidenham and Ruardean HATTON branches - unless of course he is from teh Ruardean Branch
Is he the Yorkley / Newland HATTON 1801 ? http://www.forum.forest-of-dean.net/index.php?mode=thread&id=3290

Hello Again,
Many thanks to all who have replied to my query. I have found census records for Thomas Hatton, born at Newland, for 1841 -1871. I initially had confused him with a Thomas Hatton born at Hope Mansell, son of John Hatton and Elizabeth Powell. However, on each census his birthplace is stated as Newland and I have been unable to find any record of his parents so far.

Looking at Gloucestershire FHS disc - births from 1813 onwards
There are lists of baptisms at The Leigh, St Catherine - 42 pages
this is also the site for the HATTON/HATTEN info on the LEIGH site

Sorry - my mistake "My" Thomas Hatton was born abt 1801 -not 1807.(That was the Hope Mansell Thomas Hatton)
Apologies!
I notice there was a baseborn Thomas in 1802 -but that was the Leigh.
