50 years on - Severn Bridge Disaster (General)
I was at Lydney Grammar school when the disaster occurred and many children used to travel from Sharpness and Dursley on the train over this bridge so they could not get to school and we never saw them ever again.
The smoke could be seen for many miles throughout the forest, the whole sky was alit and it was said (I dont know how true this was!) that the poor victims could be heard screaming in Lydney.
I am glad these lost lives are being remembered.
