Would anyone happen to know how I can access Canadian Immigration Records please?
Dates I am looking for are probably 1883-1891.
Thanks

Ancestry now have
Canadian Passengers Lists - 1865-1935
What names are you looking for? will see if my subscriptions covers this, but think it will just call up the name - and not access the full information unless I subscribe.

It's worth searching the USA records too, I have some relatives who moved from Canada to the USA and back again (not FOD relatives). The Ellis Island Website is a good starting point for USA but only if they came relatively recently. Again Ancestry is a good site for the USA too.

The hint about checking US crossings is a good one. My Great Aunt emigrated to Canada with her small daughter. They are shown as arriving at New York, even though their final destination was Woodstock, Ontario, circa 1908.
While her husband and brother served in "The Great War for Civilisation" she returned to the Forest, then later returned to Canada.
I am grateful for all these travel records. It proves my father right. He always said Mum's famiy would be rich if only they hadn't spent so much time/money travelling. And now I have proof of just where my "itchy feet" came from.
Happy hunting.

Hi Trudy,
Just reading through past correspondence and saw your offer of help, would you please extend that help to me?
My aunt Christina BEARD c 1888,(a nurse) entered Halifax on SS Royal George 14th May 1920, went to Toronto and married there on 20th June 1920 or 1926.I have two conflicting years, but think the former correct!
Her husband Desmond Charles BARKER sailed to Canada as returning soldier on troopship "Minnekahda", docking Halifax 14 Sep 1919.
He gave his residence as Toronto.
However, I know he was born in Kirkaldy, Fife 12 Sep 1888, and can't trace his first arrival in Canada, (presumably around 1905-1914.)
Any help you are able to give would be much appreciated, though I know this is a big ask!So if you need help in Western Australia, maybe I can help you?
Regards, Varian.
